Assessment of Annual Erosion and Sediment Yield Using Empirical Methods and Validating with Field Measurements—A Case Study

To implement soil conservation approaches, it is necessary to estimate the amount of annual sediment production from a watershed. The purpose this study was determine erosion intensity and sedimentation rate watershed by employing empirical models, including modified Pacific Southwest Inter-Agency Committee (MPSIAC), potential method (EPM), Fournier. Moreover, accuracy these models studied based on field measurements. Field measurements were conducted along two reaches Babolroud River. Total transport, suspended load bed load, predicted. Bed transport measured using Helly–Smith sampler, discharge calculated rating curve. results indicate that coefficient (Z) 0.54, with deposition 166.469 m3/(km2.year). Due existence unusable crops, highest appeared in northern region EPM MPSIAC compared indicated both provided good accuracy, differences 22.42% 20.5% results, respectively. Additionally, could be concluded Fournier not an efficient since unable consider potential.
